Wladimir Klitschko wants police to investigate whether jewelry belonging to his late ex Hayden Panettiere ended up at a pawn shop. In a court filing, he says the shop won’t provide details about the items unless law enforcement contacts it, and he’s concerned they could be sold before they’re recovered.

Klitschko says he believes “a non-family member previously connected to Hayden” pawned some of her property, which he suspects included jewelry. He’s asking for authority to request and authorize a police investigation as part of his bid to become guardian for their daughter Kaya in matters involving her inheritance.

He already has sole custody of Kaya. The guardianship request would let him act on her behalf in Panettiere’s estate, and he says recovering the missing belongings directly affects what their daughter inherits.

In his initial petition, Klitschko alleged that jewelry couldn’t be accounted for and that Panettiere’s emails had been accessed and destroyed. He also said law enforcement held some of her property and federal agents had seized other items.

According to Klitschko’s filing, Panettiere hired a security company before her death to safeguard her home and belongings after concerns that someone had entered without permission. Her designer clothing was moved elsewhere to protect it, but he remained concerned that the person would keep trying to obtain it.

Panettiere died on August 16 at 36 from a drug overdose. The court hasn’t ruled on Klitschko’s request.
