Last season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives ended with Taylor Frankie Paul leaving to film The Bachelorette, the new trailer picks up in the mess that followed — the headlines, the legal battle, the fallout, and the group trying to figure out where they stand now.

One scene shows a FaceTime between Taylor and Dakota Mortensen. She clocks his new ink immediately: “Why did you get my initials tattooed on your lips? It’s giving obsessed.”

Dakota pulls down his lip, shows off the tattoo, and does not dodge it. “I am obsessed.”

Jessi Draper frames the couple as “Romeo and Juliet in the TikTok age,” which would land as a joke if the rest of the story were not this dark.

Around that clip, the rest of MomTok is already circling the same question producers put to them: “What do you guys all know about this whole situation?” Mayci Neeley teases, “There’s so much stuff the public doesn’t know,” then adds that “this whole thing has spiraled.” Miranda Hope looks rattled asking, “How did she get here?” and later tells Mason McWhorter she is “not gonna be disrespected.”

Taylor gets teary with Jen Affleck, saying they all got “pulled in different directions” and asking where they stand when they come back together. Jen and Whitney Leavitt get a tense beat too, with Jen asking if Whitney feels bad for anything and Whitney answering, “No, I don’t.” Mikayla Matthews hits her limit on “low blows” and attacks on character.

The trailer ends on Jessi’s line: “It feels like there are no friendships left in MomTok.”

That is the tone of the season Hulu is selling: shorter, darker, and built around the chaos that halted production in March after domestic violence investigations involving Taylor and Dakota. Reports later said Season 5 would run only five episodes, with new confessionals and Taylor possibly limited to the opening credits.

Off-camera, the feud has kept going: public shots at Whitney, back-and-forth with Mikayla, custody drama, and mutual protective orders. Taylor recently said on Hulu’s Get Real podcast that Season 6 filming has already started because “so much happens too conveniently when the cameras go down.”

All five episodes of Season 5 drop Thursday, Sept. 10 on Hulu, and on Disney+.
