Pierce Brosnan has already worked with the actor he can picture as the next James Bond. He and Callum Turner appeared in 2017’s The Only Living Boy in New York, and Brosnan singled out his former co-star while discussing the search for the next 007.

“Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong,” Brosnan said. His praise extended to the other contenders: “They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men.”

Brosnan played Bond in 4 films between 1995 and 2002. He’s awaiting the casting announcement as a viewer, with Turner and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden among the reported frontrunners.

Final auditions are reportedly taking place in London, and Josh O’Connor and Jacob Elordi have also been linked to the role.

His message to whoever gets the part: “Whoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage.”

Brosnan’s also enthusiastic about Dune director Denis Villeneuve taking on the franchise. “His work is visionary, and his stealth and imagination of camera work and storytelling is so visceral and sensuous,” he said. “It’s going to be great. It’s going to be truly magnificent.”
