Leah Remini is joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and her friendship with Bravo boss Andy Cohen has some of her new castmates on edge about how it’ll play out on screen.

The concern, according to a source, is that Remini’s personal relationship with Cohen could translate into an advantage once the cameras start rolling. “The fear is Bethenny 2.0,” the source said, pointing to Bethenny Frankel, the former Real Housewives of New York regular known for operating with her own set of rules. “When you’re genuinely friends with Andy, everyone notices. His pals get more protection, better edits and more opportunities. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, that perception exists.”

For the insider, the real issue is about who holds the power once a genuine friend of Cohen’s joins the cast. “Housewives understand the game. You fight with each other, you fight with producers, but Andy is the one person nobody wants as an enemy,” the source said. “So when his actual friend walks into the cast, the power dynamic changes immediately.”

Network sources, for their part, say there’s no truth to the idea that Remini will get any special treatment.

Cohen hasn’t addressed the concerns directly, but he did speak about the casting on his SiriusXM show, Andy Cohen Live, saying the move had been years in the making. “It’s really great. You know, we’ve been dancing around both of them for years,” he said, referring to Remini and Tracy, who is also joining the show.
