Shatrisha, real name Lee Wayne Maponga, died after reportedly battling with cancer. The comedian, who had brightened the lives of many Zimbabweans with his skits, had reportedly been battling the illness for a while.

Shatrisha’s skits and videos, often shared widely on platforms like Facebook and TikTok, resonated with a broad audience, particularly during the COVID-19 era, when Zimbabweans were looking for respite from the deadly pandemic and the restrictions it brought.

After his death, several socialites and public figures paid tribute to a comedian whose witty comedy often drew from everyday Zimbabwean life and culture.

Olinda Chapel paid tribute to the comedian for supporting her husband’s music.

“RIP Shatrisha Vibes you always made me smile and laugh. You were so supportive of Ba Nandi’s music and was the first to do a skit sharing it. We appreciated you and may heaven receive you with both arms,” she wrote.

Socialite Lorraine Guyo praised him as someone who had been there for her at her lowest.

“Shaz, you had a heart of gold. You were there for me when I lacked confidence. Wakarwadziwa veduwe. May you rest well, Shatrisha Vibes, ndarwadziwa. Shatrisha Vibes,” she wrote.

Fellow comedian Madam Boss wrote “This life ka. RIP Shattrisha. His skits and videos, shared widely on platforms like Facebook and TikTok, resonated with a broad audience, making him a household name in Zimbabwe.”
