Chillspot Records co-founder DJ Ribhe arrested … accused of raping 14-year-old

Chillspot Records co-founder DJ Ribhe has seemingly landed himself in hot soup after he was arrested for raping a 14-year-old girl.

DJ Ribhe, real name Tafadzwa Mandaza, appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court where he is facing rape allegations.

The circumstances of the alleged sexual assault by DJ Ribhe, who Dumisani Mthombeni represents, are not yet clear.

DJ Ribhe rose to prominence as part of Chillspot Records, a significant player in the Zimdancehall genre. The studio was founded in 2011 by DJ Fantan, DJ Ribhe, and DJ Levels.

Ribhe’s contributions to Chillspot Records have been notable, and his name is often mentioned in the taglines of the studio’s songs.

He has been involved in producing music for various artists associated with Chillspot Records, popularising the tagline ‘Mangoma levels RIBHE na fantan’.

This is not the first time that DJ Ribhe has found himself hauled before the courts.

In October 2019, he was arrested for assault after an altercation with Yala Nation artist Horror in an incident that resulted in the latter sustaining injuries, leading to Ribhe’s arrest.

In another instance, DJ Ribhe was accused of involvement in a scuffle between Chillspot Records and Yala Nation, with tensions escalating between the two music labels.
