‘I have decided to take a different direction’ – Mzambiya quits music

South African kwaito star, Mzambiya, who burst onto the scene as a nine-year-old, has announced that he is quitting the music industry, as he will be focusing on his acting and other ventures going forward.

The Kwaito star (35) from Clermont, west of Durban, is in the process of filming a documentary that delves into his life and career, highlighting the importance of documenting his experiences and the significant events that unfolded.

The Bhibo hitmaker plans for his documentary to trace his beginnings as the youngest dancer in his kasi, Clermont, and moving to Joburg.

In a statement the musician who owns Earth Nurture Records, announced that his time as a recording artist was over.

“After much consideration, I have decided to take a different direction in my career and pursue new opportunities. However, Earth Nurture Records still continues unearthing new talent and releasing music as we have promised.”

The musician also thanked fans for Saturday they had always given him over a career that spanned almost a decade and a half.

“I’m truly grateful for all the love since my debut in the year 2000. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the valuable experience and all I’ve learned about the showbiz community. Thank you for your support and understanding.’
