South African actor Sello Maake KaNcube has found himself embroiled in a messy divorce after his wife, Pearl Mbewe, accused him of not only giving her a chronic disease but also assaulting her.

The actor reportedly almost spent the weekend in jail after after his wife filed a a raft of charges against him, including allegedly exposing her to an infectious disease.
In a police statement, seen by Sunday World, Mbewe stated that Maake kaNcube had not been fully transparent about issues of his health.
Mbewe also stated that the former Generations actor was a “violent man” who had “anger issues”.

“I request further police investigation on this matter,” she wrote.
Faced with the prospect of arrest, Maake KaNcube opened counter charges of assault against Mbewe, which led them both to withdraw charges against each other as they did not want to spend the weekend in jail.
In a statement on Monday, Maake KaNcube claimed that he was now mulling further legal action against his wife.
“I firmly deny the allegations. It appears that this is a co-ordinated effort to create unfounded claims against me.” He then added, “I will not stoop low and engage in this mud-slinging. I am consulting with my legal team regarding these matters.”
The pair have been living separately since last July after Maake kaNcube made her leave his home in Dube, Soweto, until he finished paying off her lobola, and move into their house at Blue Valley, Centurion, the veteran actor told TimesLIVE.
Maake kaNcube, who tied the knot with the publicist in 2021, had a lobola ceremony planned for September 9 this year, but he and his family from KwaZulu-Natal were sent back due to late arrival.
