DoorDash Reservations Built a Life-Size Sandcastle to Host Miami’s Most Exclusive Dinner

DoorDash and Casadonna collaborated on “Sand CastleDonna,” an exclusive sandcastle restaurant pop-up that celebrated the launch of DoorDash Reservations in Miami.

Miami’s most exclusive table of the season wasn’t found in a traditional Design District storefront or a South Beach hotel—it was literally built in the sand. DoorDash Reservations recently debuted in Miami, marking a momentous occasion for the local food scene. The platform now helps locals secure the city’s most coveted tables, and its arrival was ushered in by an architectural and culinary spectacle: Sand CastleDonna, created in collaboration with Miami mainstay, Casadonna.

The temporary, life-size sandcastle served as a fully functioning restaurant, providing a one-of-a-kind dining experience that showcased Casadonna’s signature coastal Italian menu. Guests were treated to complimentary, multi-course meals featuring dishes like beef tartare and hamachi crudo, bone-in ribeye and Meyer lemon cheesecake, reimagined within the walls of a massive, intricately carved sand structure — constructed using a staggering 100 tons of sand. To complete the immersive atmosphere, the site incorporated over 120 real plants and trees, framing the sand-based architecture with a lush, coastal-inspired landscape that brought a Mediterranean energy to the center of the city.

Reservations were available exclusively through the DoorDash app, and the daily booking drops became a high-stakes event for local foodies, with all slots selling out in under three minutes. Over the course of the weekend, DoorDash Reservations and Casadonna hosted more than 300 guests, including dozens of VIPs.

The limited pop-up ran from Thursday, December 11, to Sunday, December 14, at Jungle Plaza in Miami. While the sandcastle has since been cleared, the launch established DoorDash Reservations as a major player in Miami’s luxury hospitality landscape.
