Get ready to return to the swamp. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of DreamWorks Animation’s groundbreaking film, The LEGO Group has officially unveiled its first-ever Shrek sets. Partnering with Universal Products & Experiences, the iconic toy company is bringing the beloved ogre and the magical world of Far Far Away to life in brick form for the very first time, offering fans a highly nostalgic, hands-on tribute to one of animation’s most culturally significant franchises.
Headlining the release is the highly detailed “LEGO Shrek: Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots” display set, designed specifically for adult builders (18+). The 1,403-piece model features fully posable, brick-built iterations of Shrek and his trusty steed Donkey, alongside an exclusive Puss in Boots minifigure. Anchored by a diorama-style swamp base complete with the classic “Beware Ogre!” sign, the set is packed with deep-cut cinematic references, including an onion, sunflowers, a blue flower with red thorns, and even hidden Easter eggs tucked inside Shrek’s gut.
For younger fans and casual collectors, the launch also includes a new entry into the popular BrickHeadz line. The “LEGO BrickHeadz: Shrek, Donkey & Gingy” set features 259 pieces that construct stylised, square-headed figures of the three beloved characters. Recommended for ages 10 and up, the set incorporates playful, defining details ranging from Shrek’s signature ears to Gingy’s icing buttons.
As anticipation builds for the cinematic release of Shrek 5 in 2027, these nostalgic brick builds offer the perfect way to revisit the franchise’s legendary origins. Both the 18+ display model and the BrickHeadz figures are available for pre-order starting today, April 23, 2026, with a global launch set for June 1, 2026, via online and physical LEGO retail stores.
