ELHO Skiwear is a heritage German brand that rose to popularity in the 80s and 90s for its association with freestyle skiing and the bold “freestyle” fashion look that defined the era.
Originally founded in 1948, the brand has recently relaunched with the intention of injecting fresh personality into a new generation of ski wear – once again offering bold colors and unconventional designs that are anything but mainstream.
A standout initiative of the relaunch is the collaboration between ELHO and Portuguese graffiti artist André Saraiva – André x ELHO.
The two friends partnered on a ski apparel collection featuring Saraiva’s signature “Mr. A” character on performance jackets and other apparel such as hoodies and beanies, all designed for both the city and the slopes.
The hero element of the drop is the super-limited extra edition of 10 ice-pink performance bomber jackets.
In a special surprise, Saraiva live-sprayed 10 ‘empty’ ice-pink bomber jackets – making each one an original piece of wearable art as well as a functional performance item. “In graffiti, freestyle means you don’t follow the strict rules of an alphabet or the straight lines of a letter. You just follow your instinct and let it guide you into making an abstract painting,” says Saraiva. “The new ELHO is high-tech and fresh. It will keep you warm and stylish this winter. I’d wear the jacket with my blue jeans, warm socks, and my boots strapped to my skis going down the mountain.”
The limited-edition André x ELHO collection is available now on ELHO’s website.
