Levi’s x LOOPWHEELER x BEAMS Announce Super Wide Collaboration Tailored in Suspended French Terry
Reimagining the Type I jacket and pants in sweatshirt material to commemorate BEAMS’ 50th anniversary
by Noriaki Moriguchi · HypebeastWearing Levi’s workwear made from LOOPWHEELER sweatshirt fabric. In celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2026, BEAMS introduces a triple collaboration that merges an American casual staple with Japan’s traditional loopwheel knitting technology.
This collection follows the “Super Wide” silhouette that gained popularity in previous Levi’s x BEAMS collaborations, using LOOPWHEELER’s signature suspended French terry for the material. The jacket and pants are reconstructed from the soft fabric, produced by skilled artisans using rare loopwheel knitting machines that still exist in Wakayama. It combines classic Levi’s details and bold volume with the unique texture of a sweatshirt.
The jacket is the “Super Wide Type I Jacket,” based on the classic Type I. Tailored in suspended French terry with a silhouette that features a wide body, it includes LOOPWHEELER name tags on the cuffs and front pockets. The matching “Super Wide Pants” feature a back patch with LOOPWHEELER and BEAMS names, as well as a clip-on tag on the front pocket. The back pockets are adorned with Levi’s iconic arcuate stitching, highlighted by contrasting colors. Both items are available in two colors: heather gray and navy.
Additionally, the lineup includes bandanas incorporating vintage Levi’s bandana patterns. The collection consists of six styles in total: two colors each for the jacket, pants, and bandana.
The campaign visuals were shot in Oakland, California. They feature Max Schaaf, professional skateboarder and founder of “4Q Conditioning,” known as a custom bike builder, and his younger friend Steven Orellana. Through the images of the two riding vintage bikes, the campaign depicts American culture passed down across generations. A short documentary film closely following the Wakayama factory behind LOOPWHEELER’s production, capturing the process of transforming yarn into fabric, will also be released.
The Levi’s x LOOPWHEELER x BEAMS collection will be released on Saturday, October 17 at BEAMS Harajuku, BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku), and BEAMS JAPAN Kyoto. Prices are 58,300 yen for the jacket, 49,500 yen for the pants, and 4,400 yen for the bandana (all including tax). Subsequently, it will be available sequentially from Thursday, October 22 on the Levi’s official online store and select stores worldwide, and from Friday, October 23 at BEAMS America.
At the three domestic stores mentioned above, a lottery will be held for customers who purchase the jacket and pants together, offering a chance to win a special edition T-shirt. Made with LOOPWHEELER’s suspended jersey, it features a Levi’s “Saddleman” graphic on the back, specially arranged for this collection.
On Friday, October 16, the day before the launch, a launch event will be held at BEAMS Harajuku. Leo Gamboa from Levi’s, LOOPWHEELER representative Satoshi Suzuki, and BEAMS buyers Takehiko Suzuki and Keita Kobayashi will take the stage to share the secret story behind the collection’s creation. The event is scheduled from 19:00 to 21:00, with the talk show starting at 20:00. Admission is free, and there will be no product sales on the day.
