JiyongKim has officially taken center stage at Pitti Uomo 110, unveiling a profound new exhibition as the event’s designated Special Guest. The grand presentation centers entirely around the brand’s celebrated signature Sun-Bleach technique, transforming the label’s distinct design philosophy into a stunning, large-scale installation. Through this curated space, the designer offers an artistic environment meant to explore the intricate relationships between time, nature, and the overarching process of material change.
The spatial experience of the installation begins immediately at the main entrance, welcoming attendees with an intricate composition of Sun-Bleached fabrics that extend dynamically throughout the entire venue. Serving as the primary focal point of the exhibition is a uniform lineup featuring 34 individual coats constructed in an identical form. Each piece represents a specific moment in time, meticulously capturing how natural elements alter physical textiles over a prolonged duration.
In order to map this natural progression, every single coat was exposed to direct sunlight at precise three-day intervals before being arranged sequentially in the exact order of its bleaching. The linear progression successfully forms a single, tangible axis of time across the room. Below the hanging garments, the shadows cast into a strategically placed water basin create fluid layers of light and dark, beautifully revealing the quiet accumulation of time through nature’s own hand.
