Film studio Lionsgate and action powerhouse 87Eleven Entertainment have officially debuted the first trailer for Karōshi, an upcoming near-future action-thriller produced by John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski. The high-stakes project is written and directed by Takashi Doscher, uniting an ensemble cast that features Teo Yoo, Isabel May, Cynthia Erivo, and Giancarlo Esposito.
Set across a futuristic Manhattan where corporate loyalty and cultural tradition have radically reshaped everyday life, the narrative tracks an enigmatic outsider who infiltrates a powerful company following an employee’s death. In doing so, he exposes a lethal, violent system lurking beneath the conglomerate’s polished surface. The preview showcases Stahelski’s signature action hallmarks, pairing arterial spray, elevated train sequences, and kinetic choreography with a lone hero confronting a rigged hierarchy, evoking thematic shades of Masaki Kobayashi’s 1962 cinematic classic Harakiri.
Produced by Stahelski alongside Jason Spitz, Alex Young, and Nathan Kahane for True North and 87Eleven Productions, the tight 88-minute feature also co-stars Takehiro Hira, Bill Camp, and Sho Kasamatsu in pivotal roles. The project arrives as part of a packed theatrical release corridor alongside titles from Judd Apatow and M. Night Shyamalan.
Karōshi is scheduled to release in theaters nationwide on February 5, 2027.
