Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have officially released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, marking Tom Holland’s highly anticipated return to the cinematic franchise.

Picking up the pieces four years after the universe-altering events of 2021’s No Way Home, Peter Parker (Holland) is back on the streets of New York City, navigating a reality that has completely forgotten his existence. Director Destin Daniel Cretton’s fourth installment pivots toward a gritty, street-level narrative and sees Peter as a full-fledged adult trying to protect his city as a full-time Spider-Man. He digs deep into the criminal underbelly of New York City where he uncovers “one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced,” and even crosses paths with Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando’s Scorpion and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone.

At the same time, he tries to come to terms with his erasure from the lives of MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), who both went on to attend MIT. Peter also deals with the passing of his beloved Aunt May, and undergoes a physical transformation that Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk (with Mark Ruffalo reprising his role) claims could be mutating DNA.
