Tokyo-based label MacMahon Knitting Mills has joined forces with BEAMS for a collaborative collection that fuses the warmth of traditional South American hand-knitting with a modern streetwear aesthetic.

The collection is centered around the keywords “Born,” “New York” and “Boro.” Rather than relying on standard distressing, the lineup utilizes meticulous hand-knitting techniques to achieve a “Boro” (rag) aesthetic. This approach leaves the natural unevenness and roughness of the knitwear, elevating each piece with an authentic, handcrafted vintage feel.

The “Born” series expands on the raw, deconstructed look of the iconic MA-1 jacket, complemented by a skull-designed hat and a distinct key chain with a bone motif. Simultaneously, the “New York” segment offers a sophisticated twist on American classics. Highlights include the stadium jacket, which pairs a varsity silhouette with a cozy cowichan-style collar and a unique cap based on vintage pillbox designs.
