Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK) returns for its sixth edition from November 7 to 9, bringing together 63 galleries from 18 countries and regions at the Kyoto International Conference Center. With an expanded international presence and a newly established leadership structure, the 2026 fair continues its mission of fostering cross-cultural exchange between Japan’s contemporary art scene and the wider global art community.
At the heart of ACK are two signature sections: Gallery Collaborations and Kyoto Meetings. The former pairs Japanese galleries with international counterparts in shared exhibition spaces, encouraging dialogue across artistic practices and cultural perspectives. This year’s participants include Tokyo’s NANZUKA, which joins forces with New York’s Jeffrey Deitch, TARO NASU with Hauser & Wirth, and Tokyo Gallery + BTAP with Seoul’s Gallery Hyundai. Meanwhile, Kyoto Meetings spotlights artists and works connected to the historic city, with presentations from galleries including Perrotin, Art Court Gallery, and Kiang Malingue.
Beyond the gallery presentations, ACK introduces ACK Intersections, a curated exhibition led by Leonhard Bartolomeus of the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM). Titled Out of Bounds, the program explores the invisible boundaries that shape our relationships with art, architecture, and one another. Featuring works by Ernesto Neto, Efrain Almeida, Piotr Kowalski, and others, the exhibition activates the Kyoto International Conference Center’s distinctive architectural spaces. Additional programming includes installations by Aiko Miyanaga, Eriko Mukai, and Ryunosuke Okazaki, alongside a series of conversations featuring influential figures such as Arthur Jafa, Kazuyo Sejima, and Tomio Koyama.
The fair’s cultural footprint also extends throughout Kyoto through its What’s On initiative, which highlights exhibitions staged across the city’s galleries, temples, and historic landmarks. Among the presentations are exhibitions featuring Andrew Cranston at Ryosokuin Temple, Issy Wood and Evelyn Taocheng Wang at Daitokuji Temple’s Korin-in and Yuka Kashiwabara at Komyoin Temple.
Blending contemporary artistic perspectives with Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, ACK offers an alternative approach to the traditional art fair model, one that prioritizes collaboration, experimentation, and meaningful connections across borders.
