Vans and SZA unveil the official VANSZA Drop 1 campaign, photographed by India Sleem.

Highlights include the Knu Skool Mule, Authentic Kickdown and nature-inspired apparel.

Launching October 22, the collection blends skatewear, outdoor influences and SZA's personal style.

Following the initial unveiling of their VANSZA collaboration in September, Vans and SZA have released the official campaign for Drop 1, offering a closer look at the singer’s nature-inspired interpretation of the California footwear brand’s signature designs.

Photographed by India Sleem against California’s sun-drenched hillsides and rugged landscapes, the campaign brings SZA’s creative universe into focus through an interplay of earthy textures, expressive styling and outdoor scenery. Complemented by product and landscape photography from Yudo Kurita, the visuals place the collection’s oversized silhouettes, distressed finishes and eclectic patterns against dry grasslands and rocky terrain, reinforcing its themes of individuality, discovery and a connection to the natural world.

At the core of Drop 1 are two reworked Vans silhouettes: the VANSZA Knu Skool Mule and Authentic Kickdown, both reflecting SZA’s preference for effortless, slip-on footwear. The Knu Skool Mule removes the sneaker’s heel entirely, transforming the familiar skate-inspired silhouette into an open-backed design, while the Authentic Kickdown features a collapsible heel that allows it to transition between a conventional sneaker and a slip-on. The latter is constructed from distressed canvas and features custom artwork by Sage Adams, introducing a playful, personalized treatment to the classic Vans model.

Beyond footwear, the collection expands into apparel and accessories inspired by vintage outdoor clothing, DIY customization and utilitarian workwear. Oversized outerwear, relaxed cargo trousers, washed denim and graphic pieces featuring fish-inspired illustrations establish a deliberately eclectic wardrobe, combining functional details with SZA’s unconventional approach to styling. Together, the collection bridges Vans’ skateboarding heritage with the singer’s personal references, balancing practical construction with a sense of experimentation and humor.

The VANSZA Drop 1 collection launches October 22, 2026, through Vans retail locations and the brand’s official website. To celebrate the release, SZA will also make two special in-store appearances in the US, beginning at Vans Glendale Galleria in California on October 17, followed by Foot Locker at Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey on October 21, 2026.
