Streaming giant Netflix has officially cast Paul Bettany to star opposite Steven Yeun in the upcoming supernatural drama series Pagans. The high-profile project is created and executive produced by Say Nothing creator Joshua Zetumer, exploring the unsettling darkness and emotional tension buried within contemporary family life.
The narrative follows Gus, portrayed by Yeun, who is left as the sole caretaker of his two children following the sudden and tragic loss of his wife. While his son Nate, played by Logan Kim, navigates a conventional upbringing, his daughter Alice, played by Sabine Grace, begins displaying deeply unsettling behavior. What initially appears as a strained relationship between father and daughter gradually transforms into something far more sinister. Bettany joins the cast as Mag, an enigmatic and charismatic stranger, starring alongside Marin Ireland as single mother Janelle and Intae Kim as Gus’ younger brother Casey.
Zetumer serves as lead showrunner and executive producer alongside Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg for Goddard Textiles, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, and Celadon Pictures’ Yeun and Christina Oh. The high-profile casting continues Bettany’s active television run following his portrayal of the synthezoid Vision in Marvel’s Disney+ series VisionQuest and Antonio Salieri in Sky Originals’ Amadeus.
