Wrangler and imogene + willie Teamed Up to Craft the Ultimate Vintage Americana Collection
Classic fits and archived designs get a fresh revival through deadstock selvedge denim and handcrafted details.
by Felson Sajonas · HypebeastAmerican denim history just got a fresh, carefully crafted update. Wrangler, an iconic brand with nearly 80 years of defining Western style, has teamed up with Nashville-based imogene + willie to create a collaborative collection rooted in authentic domestic craftsmanship. Rather than simply slapped-on logos, the Nashville crew was given keys to Wrangler’s rich archives, unlocking original patterns, vintage visual assets, and rare fabrics. The result is a thoughtful blend of heritage design and modern, US-made construction that honors the workers, mills, and legacy behind classic Americana denim.
The first drop is anchored by deadstock, rigid selvedge denim sourced directly from the legendary Cone Mills White Oak Mill. Highlights include a faithful reproduction of the rare 1964 10MW jean—which Wrangler only produced for a single year—alongside the 10WW, a tailored adaptation featuring a higher rise and fitted waist designed for a flattering feminine fit. Rounding out the first release is a limited-edition Studio Tee inspired by 90s-era all-over graphic prints featuring custom Western artwork.
October 24 brings Drop 2, shifting focus toward rugged broken twill denim and woven fabrics developed in partnership with Mount Vernon Mills, the last remaining large-scale denim mill in the US. Cowboy lovers can look forward to the iconic 1950s “Cowboy Cut” 13MWZ jean and its feminine counterpart, the 14MWZ, available in washed indigo and black finishes with classic saddle-ready details like flat copper rivets and flat-felled inseams. The jacket selection shines with the zip-up 11MJZ denim jacket and the 12MJZ “championship” jacket—traditionally awarded to rodeo winners—recreated in overdyed, sunfaded cotton twill. Woven 27MW Western snap shirts, screen-printed graphic tees, and fleece crewnecks sewn directly in the USA complete the middle installment.
The final rollout on November 7 delivers deadstock Cone Mills White Oak selvedge in unique colorways like black, brown, and olive, as well as a deadstock chambray 27MW Western shirt. Accessories throughout the collection include USA-made “Buckin” trucker caps, hickory stripe hats, and hand-screen-printed bandanas crafted in Nashville.
The collection lands on Wrangler.com as well as imogeneandwillie.com and select retail stores, with prices ranging from $48 USD for accessories up to $350 USD for premium outerwear and selvedge denim.
