Summary

Acne Studios celebrates its 30th anniversary by returning to its foundational material: denim.

Photographer Nan Goldin shot the brand's creative community wearing current, archival, and re-edition denim pieces spanning three decades.

The anniversary collection features re-editions like the 1996 straight-leg, the 2009 bootcut style, and a denim jacket, each in raw and worn washes, available now in stores and online.

To mark their 30th anniversary, Acne Studios returns to the brand’s foundational material — denim. ‘Denim is the perfect canvas. We’re rooted in it. It’s a material of today that also ages and becomes something else through its story. Denim personalises itself through wear — it becomes yours’, stated the co-founder and creative director of Acne Studios, Jonny Johansson.

To celebrate, Acne Studios tapped legendary American photographer and activist Nan Goldin, turning the lens on Acne Studios’ multidisciplinary family of creatives, featuring musician Ellie Rowsell, model and photographer Guinevere Van Seenus, artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase, photographer Jordan Hemingway, actor and musician Juliette Lewis, artist Peter Schlesinger, actor and model Raya Martigny, actor Rila Fukushima, and artist Sandra Poulson. Goldin captures the Acne Studios family wearing a mix of current, archive, and re-editions of emblematic denim styles spanning the last 30 years, highlighting the brand’s founding spirit: one of free expression, creative experimentation, and proud individuality.

The 30th-anniversary capsule collection of re-edition denim includes the 1996; the latest slim, low-rise cut, the 2009; a bootcut style, and a denim jacket, each coming in two washes; pristine raw denim, and pairs that appear to have lived through 30 years of wash and wear. The collection is now available in international stores and at acnestudios.com.
