Jeep introduced the 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A as a limited-edition model paying tribute to the original post-war civilian CJ-2A
The package features heavy archival styling cues including retro 17-inch Joose-painted wheels and Heritage Tan Nappa leather
Arriving as the 11th drop in the monthly "Twelve 4 Twelve" series, the package costs just $115 more than a similarly equipped Rubicon
Over 80 years ago, the end of fighting in 1945 saw the World War II Willys MB military vehicle adapted for civilian work across farms, ranches and job sites. That pivotal transition birthed the original CJ-2A and sparked a lineage that directly evolved into the modern off-roader. Jeep paid homage to those archival roots with the 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A. Arriving as a detailed limited edition, the release underscores how the utilitarian DNA of the 1940s still commands cultural relevance in today’s 4×4 landscape. The tribute vehicle arrived as the 11th consecutive entry in the “Twelve 4 Twelve” series, a rollout that introduces a new limited-edition Wrangler once a month for 12 straight months.
Built upon the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon platform, the new edition delivers heritage styling without an aggressive markup. The JL-2A package costs $4,995 USD, meaning the fully appointed vehicle costs just $115 USD more than a similarly equipped Wrangler Rubicon. Visually, the drop is anchored by a two-door version available in Gobi paint, a shade drawing direct inspiration from the Harvest Tan color worn by the original CJ-2A. Buyers looking for different aesthetics can also specify the exterior in ‘41, Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost or a bold orange shade named Joose.
Every configuration locks in a set of 17-inch retro wheels painted Joose. These rims serve as a modern interpretation of the classic Sunset Red wheels originally offered on the CJ-2A, bridging the gap between archival design and contemporary trail readiness. The retro wheels are wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. Orange front and rear tow hooks, a functional three-piece hardtop, body-color fender flares and Dark Metallic Grey grille accents round out the exterior details.
Inside the cabin, the aesthetic continues to lean into the archives. The interior design fuses Heritage Tan Nappa leather with Bison Brown trim and Desert Orange stitching. Archival cabin details elevate the space further, including heritage-inspired HVAC graphics, a Willys-Overland shifter medallion and a special serialized plaque mounted on the rear swing gate. Equipment remains modern despite the nostalgia. The JL-2A features a standard front TrailCam with an integrated washer along with the Convenience Group that provides remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a universal garage door opener.
