The world’s most elegant detective is back. Netflix has dropped the official teaser for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment in Rian Johnson’s acclaimed murder-mystery series. The teaser promises a darker, more gothic chapter, leaving behind the sunny locale of Greece for a mysterious new setting. The film is set to have a limited theatrical release starting November 26, 2025, before hitting Netflix on December 12, 2025.
The new mystery centers on the murder of a charismatic but tyrannical monsignor in a small upstate New York church. The seemingly “impossible” crime prompts detective Benoit Blanc, played once again by Daniel Craig, to join forces with a local police chief to solve the murder. The teaser offers a glimpse of the new ensemble cast, including Josh O’Connor as a troubled priest, Glenn Close as a devout churchgoer, and Josh Brolin as the murdered Monsignor, among other A-list suspects that include Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
The trailer leans into a more somber and serious tone than its predecessors, exploring themes of faith, logic, and redemption. Rian Johnson’s signature style of blending homage with reinvention is on full display, promising a compelling and intricate puzzle for both Benoit Blanc and the audience.
