To celebrate the centennial of jazz legend Miles Davis’ birth, Breitling has unveiled the Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Miles Davis. Inspired directly by the mid-1960s Navitimer ref. 806 Mk5 that Davis famously wore – transforming a pilot’s tool into an emblem of mid-century “cool” – the limited-edition release faithfully recreates its vintage predecessor while introducing modern craftsmanship.

Set in a classic 41mm stainless steel case, the watch features a monochrome black-and-white reverse-panda dial accented by era-correct “Twin Jet” badging, old radium Super-LumiNova, and a bidirectional slide-rule bezel. Limited to just 500 pieces, the watch is available on a hand-colored gradient brown calfskin leather strap or the newly revived, rally-inspired stainless steel Air Racer bracelet.

Inside beats the hand-wound Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a COSC-certified movement featuring a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with a vertical clutch and a 70-hour power reserve. Visible through an open sapphire crystal caseback engraved with “One of 500” and “Miles Davis Centennial,” the manual-wind architecture pays homage to the pre-automatic chronograph era when Davis originally selected his watch.
