What Movies Are Nominated for the Oscars This Year?
The nominees this year for Best Picture are F1, Frankenstein, Train Dreams, One Battle After Another, Hamet, Bugonia, Sentimental Value, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent and Sinners.
The Best Original Song category once again features Diane Warren, who earned her 17th nomination. Warren, who was nominated for “Dear Me” from her documentary, Diane Warren: Relentless, has yet to win an Oscar, and she faces stiff competition from KPop Demon Hunters’ “Golden.”
In a departure from previous award shows, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this year that only two of the Best Original Song nominees would get a “live performance focus:” those songs are “I Lied to You” from Sinners and “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters. The three songs left out of the live telecast are Warren’s “Dear Me;” “Train Dreams” from Train Dreams, with music by Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner; and “Sweet Dreams of Joy” from Viva Verdi!, with music and lyrics by Nicholas Pike.
