Morgan Wallen Welcomed Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, More to His Knoxville Shows

Morgan Wallen spent this weekend playing to more than 150,000 people over two shows at the Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. The gigs were about as close as the country star gets to a homecoming blowout — he grew up in Sneedville, about 90 minutes away — so he marked the occasion with a slew of surprise guests, including Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, and Darius Rucker. 

During night one last Friday, Sept. 20, Church took the stage to join Wallen for a duet rendition of “Quittin’ Time,” a track off Wallen’s 2021 smash, Dangerous: The Double Album. It was also the first time Wallen had played the song on his One Night at a Time tour, and per Setlist.fm, he’s only ever played live once before — in 2022 in Arlington, Texas.

After Church’s cameo, Wallen brought out two more guests — Hardy and Ernest, both of whom were providing support as openers that night. Hardy first hopped on stage for a performance of one of his earliest singles, 2017’s “Up Down.” And then Ernest joined for their collaboration, “Cowgirls,” mashed-up a little with Ernest’s own song, “Flower Shops.” 

Wallen returned to Neyland on Sunday (the stadium was booked Saturday for a University of Tennessee football game), when he welcomed Lambert and Rucker. Lambert joined him for a performance of “Thought You Should Know,” the track they co-wrote together for One Thing at a Time, while Rucker and Wallen played — what else? — “Wagon Wheel.”

Earlier this summer, Wallen played a show in Kansas City that featured a handful of special guests, as well. First, Lainey Wilson joined him for a performance of “Lies Lies Lies,” and then Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn came out for a performance of their Nineties country classic, “Neon Moon.”

Wallen’s Knoxville gigs were among the last on his massive One Night at a Time tour, which kicked off all the way back in April. He has a handful of gigs scheduled next month, including an Oct. 4 show in Tampa, Florida, followed by two concerts in Charlotte, North Carolina on Oct. 18 and 19.
