Sombr Is Crawling Out of His Skin on New Single ‘My Body Isn’t Ready’
· Rolling StoneSombr has his finger on the pulse of pop culture in the Gus Black-directed video for his latest single, “My Body Isn’t Ready.” The visual enlists Obsession and Off Campus stars Inde Navarrette and Josh Heuston for the occasion.
“My Body Isn’t Ready” follows a string of recent singles from Sombr including “Potential” and “Homewrecker,” which was named one of Rolling Stone‘s best songs of 2026 so far: “The first post-breakthrough release from New York pop wunderkind Sombr is a hazy plea to a lover who has a partner waiting at home,” the review reads. “It glides on a lite-funk beat (with a bass line laid down by former Prince muse Wendy Melvoin) as Sombr lays out how he’s been strung along, including till-dawn fire-escape chats; while he’s sympathetic to his romantic rival, his all-in vocal indicates that he really, really wants to win.”

Sombr will commemorate the release of “My Body Isn’t Ready” with a yet-to-be-detailed surprise performance in New York City on Friday, June 26. The last time the musician hosted a free show in his hometown, he shut down part of Canal Street to celebrate the arrival of his debut album, I Barely Know Her.
“There were people perched on fire escapes, others watching from the ledge of wide open windows,” Rolling Stone wrote in a report from the scene and a review of the album. “Behind the provisional stage, cars passed by and buses trudged along to their next stop while passengers glanced curiously at the impromptu rock show that shut the street down. The scene was everything that the album is — enamored, uninhibited, steeped in sonder.”
