Eladio Carrión Serenades His Mom During DJ Khaled Segment at Latin Grammys

· Rolling Stone

DJ Khaled served as the MC in an urbano-heavy segment at the Latin Grammys. The musician took the stage on Thursday night to introduce Quevedo, Myke Towers, and Eladio Carrión, who hugged his mom mid-performance for a heartwarming moment early in the show.

Carrión sang “Mama’s Boy,” a touching tribute to his mother, surrounded by a powerful choir. The Puerto Rican star walked into the crowd and hugged his mom while singing.

“Te amo, mami,” he said. Carrión has been celebrating the success of his last LP Sol Maria, which he dedicated to his mother, who walked the red carpet earlier in the night with the singer. (Sol María is up for Best Urban Music Album.)

Khaled then introduced Quevedo, who took the stage dressed in all-white to perform “Columbia,” before heading to the show’s B stage to play his new song, “Duro.” (He’s expected to drop the album the song is featured on, Buenas Noches, later this year.)

Towers closed the segment by performing his song “La Falda,” as LVEU: Vive la Tuya… No la Mía track’s Peso Pluma-referencing played onscreen. Towers then transitioned into his viral hit “Lala” from his album La Vida Es Una.

Towers was nominated twice in the Best Urban Song category, which was ultimately won by Daddy Yankee’s “Bonita.”

Khaled was revealed to be part of the show by Rolling Stone earlier this month. David Bisbal, Alejandro Fernández, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Carin León, Elena Rose, and Ela Taubert are also expected to perform.
