Melania Trump Documentary Directed by Brett Ratner in the Works
· Rolling StoneMelania Trump will be the focus of an upcoming Prime Video documentary directed by Brett Ratner, who will make his return behind the camera for the first time since his #MeToo era downfall seven years ago.
The streaming service announced the film just weeks before Melania reassumes the role of First Lady for the second Trump administration. According to Prime Video, the documentary will offer “an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look” at the President-elect’s third wife.
Variety reports that the documentary, which will also be executive-produced by Melania, began filming in December, just weeks after Trump was elected president for a second term. The film is due out in the second half of 2025, with a streaming and theatrical release planned.
The Melania documentary marks Ratner’s first film as director since 2014’s Hercules. In 2017, during the #MeToo movement, Ratner was accused of sexual assault and harassment by six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. Elliot Page also accused the X-Men: The Last Stand director of sexual harassment and “outing” them. Warner Bros. cut ties with Ratner and his RatPac Entertainment soon after.
However, in 2012, Ratner’s RatPac merged with Dune Entertainment, a production company founded by Steven Mnuchin, the first Trump administration’s treasury secretary.
Additionally, Ratner’s 2011 movie Tower Heist used Trump-owned properties as a filming location, solidifying his connection to the president-elect; Donald Trump visited the Tower Heist set at least once, Variety notes, adding that Ratner, a Miami resident, is in the same social circle as many Mar-a-Lago goers.
