Your guide to this year’s Boxing Day films

Boxing Day is the biggest day of the year for cinemas, both in attendance and, normally, releases.

But Boxing Day 2025 provides relatively slim pickings. This time next year, for instance, you’ll have new Avengers, Dune, Jumanji and Shrek films to juggle, at least. This year? Well, Avatar: Fire and Ash is hanging around, and only one Academy Award contender is playing. The likely Oscar contenders – Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent and It Was Just An Accident – all arrive in January.
