It’s towards the end of our conversation that Richard E Grant starts to discuss Christmas puddings. They are his indulgence, the actor confesses: he eats one a month. One a month? I think of those rich, dark, fruity desserts, generally confined to the culinary excesses of Christmas Day. How does he consume them? A whole pudding in one sitting?
“Oh yes, I eat a whole pudding,” he says, genially. “A proper, full-sized pudding. With lemon sorbet: it cuts through the sweetness. I’ve got 27 in my pantry.”
