I am exceedingly relieved to report that Patrick Brammall is as nice as he seems.
All week, as I’ve been telling people I’m lunching with Brammall, they want to know: is he cool? The actor has built a following for being what one critic described as a “loveable fuckup” and more recently and saliently for the way his real-life love story with wife Harriet Dyer has dovetailed with their on-screen relationship in Colin from Accounts, a show they co-created and wrote together. In this age of parasocial relationships, where we feel we know people from their screen personas, watching Brammall as Gordon and Dyer as Ashley fall in – and out – of love has connected the pair with audiences in ways no other project they’ve worked on has. So, yes, everyone wants to know: is Patrick Brammall a good guy?
