If there was a prize for best tombstone gag, Spike Milligan’s chosen epitaph “I told you I was ill”, would have had to be a contender.
But there are others. A frustrated novelist reportedly wrote on hers, “At
last, a plot.” And there’s this tasteless gem, “If you’re reading this, you’re
standing on my bladder.“
