Our fashion editor’s guide to shopping in New York City

New York is known for so many things – art, dining, nightlife, Broadway! – but to me, it’ll always be my favourite place to shop. Need a new dress? A hammer? Maybe a tin of overpriced sardines? Fancy cleanser (or a plain one)? A rare book? Tin of pencils? It’s all here – and what’s more, it’s all the very best version of those things.
Not only that, New York is one of the best walking cities in the world. On a recent trip, the weather had just become cooler, and I took advantage by walking, my Apple watch tells me, 25 kilometres each day (on average). Why wouldn’t I, when the sights are so spectacular and the streets so simple to navigate?
