In 2025, The Australian Financial Review Magazine celebrated a milestone − our 30th birthday. “Working on AFR Magazine in a joy,” said Matthew Drummond at a dinner for our 30th at Sydney’s Bennelong restaurant, “because you are given the resources to be ambitious; with time, our stories can percolate over many weeks and sometimes months; with space – features frequently run to 5000 words. The magazine draws on the skills of top writers, the best photographers, illustrators, designers, sub-editors and production staff.” With that joy in mind, here are 10 of the best stories from the pages of AFR Magazine this year.
