Kelana Jaya Line to receive 26 new train sets by 2031
Recently, Rapid Rail announced that it will add 26 new train sets to replace ageing trains that are causing frequent disruptions. In addition, the new trains will increase capacity, increasing operational efficiency. So, what should you know about it?
The first trains are expected to arrive in 2029
For your information, the first new trains are expected to arrive in 2029, and the replacement process will be fully completed by the end of 2030. The new trains will begin operating in 2030. Among the issues faced by Rapid is that the capacity of the Kelana Jaya line has now reached 109% in April, driven by rising fuel prices, causing high congestion.
While awaiting the arrival of the new trains, Rapid is adopting a condition-based maintenance (CBM) approach. Inspections will be carried out more frequently, with components showing early signs of damage being replaced immediately without waiting for a manual schedule.
