Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” Tops Billboard Hot 100 For Record-Tying 22nd Week

A couple weeks ago, Ella Langley’s country-pop earworm “Choosin’ Texas” notched its 20th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 and became the longest-running non-holiday No. 1 in the history of America’s flagship pop chart. In the two weeks since, “Choosin’ Texas” has remained unbeatable, and today, it’s perched at No. 1 for the 22nd nonconsecutive week. That means it’s tied with Mariah Carey’s 1994 classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as the longest-running No. 1 single of all time.

“Choosin’ Texas” first conquered the Hot 100 all the way back in mid-February, and with the exception of June, it’s held the top slot for at least one week in each month since. As you may recall, June belonged to Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Drake.

Speaking of Drake, he’s a known Ella’s Fella, as he commented “Goated pen” on one of Langley’s IG posts back in August. But the Alabama singer-songwriter’s music might not be quite as ubiquitous as her Drizzy co-signs and enormous chart success suggest. Last month, on Caleb Pressley’s Sundae Conversation, Doja Cat claimed she’d never heard of Langley.
