ICYMI, Beyoncé Dropped A New Song Called “MORNING DEW (DONK)”

Saturday was America’s 250th birthday, but it also marked the return of Beyoncé, who gave fans her first new single since 2024’s COWBOY CARTER. The song is called “MORNING DEW (DONK),” and it’s due to appear on the upcoming 20th anniversary edition of Bey’s 2006 sophomore solo album, B’Day, which is set for release on the singer’s birthday, September 4.

As per a press release, “MORNING DEW (DONK)” serves as “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day.” Bey wrote the song with Beyoncé, The-Dream, DIXSON, Pharrell Williams, Cheeky Blakk, Ari Lennox, and Ant Clemons. Beyoncé and Pharrell are the two credited producers. It’s a gentle R&B bumper about a couple who still enjoy each other’s company, so to speak. Here’s Bey in the first verse, watching Prince’s 1984 blockbuster Purple Rain with her man and feeling all kinds of old feelings.

On the chorus, Bey relays what her man tells her every morning. Talk about rise and grind.

She gets a little more explicit in the second verse but keeps it nice and classy, as always.
