Spider-Man 5 confirmed after Brand New Day as Marvel head eyes next chapter

Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige has officially confirmed Spider-Man 5, setting up the next phase of Peter Parker's journey. Producer Amy Pascal has also backed director Destin Daniel Cretton to return, ensuring steady creative continuity.

Following the release of Spider Man: Brand New Day, Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege has confirmed Spider-Man 5 as Marvel looks forward to the next chapter of Peter Parker's story. The update also comes with producer Amy Pascal expressing hope that director Destin Daniel Cretton will return for the film.

On being asked about the sequel to Brand New Day, Fiege, while speaking to Variety said, "There are always plans." Although Marvel and its creative partners are already looking ahead, the co-producer indicated that actor Tom Holland won't be putting the suit back on just yet.

“But right now, he's (Tom) going to rest after that global tour. He and Zendaya are going to take a good and restful victory lap, which they very much deserve," the 53-year-old added.

Asked about Cretton's future with the franchise, Pascal, in an interview with Deadline said, "If we have our way, he certainly will be." She made the remark while speaking about who would helm the next chapter of Peter Parker's story.

The latest development around Spider-Man 5 centres on Marvel's plans for the next film, with Pascal voicing support for Cretton's return as director.

Apart from Tom and Zendaya, Spider Man: Brand New Day also features actors Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo in key roles. New additions to the franchise include Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colon-Zayas and Marvin Jones II.

India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, "For years, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been defined by the people around him – Tony Stark, the Avengers, even the multiverse. Brand New Day finally allows Peter Parker to carry the weight of his own story. It may take a little while to find its footing, but once it does, it delivers some of the franchise’s most inventive action, its most emotionally honest moments and a reminder that Spider-Man has always been at his best when the mask comes off."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was theatrically released in India on July 30.
