Actor Divya Dutta has recalled a striking childhood incident where she physically confronted a man who tried to harass her sister, saying she “whacked his wits” in the moment. Reflecting on the episode, she credited her mother for instilling the confidence to stand up against such behaviour.

Speaking to Zoom, Divya described how instinct took over when she saw the man attempt to misbehave with her sister. “He was about to pinch my sister's b**t, and I just held him. Now where did that confidence come from? Because I was psyched. It came from my mother. I just held him and whacked his wits. Everyone turned around and then everyone comes to help. That boy just ran away. This is passing on the confidence to stand up for someone you love,” she said.

The 48-year-old actor also shared another incident from her school days when she was repeatedly followed and harassed. Instead of letting it slide, her mother took swift action.

“When I told my mother, she acted immediately. The next day, she waited in the same lane with a group of people and confronted him directly. That incident taught me a lot about standing up and not letting fear take over,” Divya recalled.

Reflecting on these experiences, Divya emphasised how courage and the ability to confront wrongdoing often come from one’s upbringing and support system.

Divya was last seen in the series Chiraiya. The series also features a cast including Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinnu Anand, and Sarita Joshi, alongside Dutta.
