Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that he will play a double role in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana. He will star as Lord Rama and also briefly appear as Parshurama, an earlier avatar of Lord Vishnu. This dual role was hinted at in the latest teaser but had not been officially confirmed until now.
While speaking to Collider during the teaser launch event in Los Angeles, Ranbir Kapoor explained how he approached playing both characters. He said he used different body language and voice modulation to reflect the distinct temperaments of Rama and Parshurama. He added that understanding the spirituality and emotions of these avatars was key to his performance.
Ranbir shared, “Lord Vishnu had different avatars. Lord Rama was an avatar, and Lord Parshurama was an avatar before Lord Rama. Playing both roles was a fantastic opportunity. I spent a year preparing for Ramayana to understand who these characters are, their beliefs, and their motives.”
