Facials? Check. Couture fitting? Check. Crawling through a smoke-filled obstacle course? Also check, at least if you’re Lauren Sanchez Bezos.

Met Gala prep usually means couture, glam-up sessions, and last-minute fittings, but the honorary chair, and lead sponsors of this year’s glamorous fundraiser, had one more routine to follow before walking the red carpet that actually helped lose weight.

We are talking about her visit to the New York Fire Department over the weekend ahead of the gala.

In an interview with Vogue, Sanchez revealed how she took part in a training session with the fire department, calling it possibly "the most unique Met prep ever."

It involved suiting up, crawling through smoke-filled obstacle courses, and learning life-saving techniques. The intense session led her to shed about two pounds (approximately 0.9kgs)

"It was bananas, but I loved it. I probably lost about two pounds doing it,” she quipped about the unserious weight loss.

But, if you are wondering, can you really lose weight that quick? Well, while intense training can fast track the process, a lot depends on individuals' metabolism and lifestyle too. She jokingly

Of course, the fashion side of things had been in motion for months.

The former journalist stepped onto the cream carpet in a sculpted Schiaparelli couture look, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline, delicate pearl-and-crystal straps, and a sharply cinched corset bodice.

Her gown was inspired by one of the most iconic works housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Madame X by John Singer Sargent. The original 1883 portrait caused a stir for its time owing to a single detail: a slipping shoulder strap that was later repainted to be more "proper."

Sanchez Bezos leaned into that history. The silhouette, however, was distinctly modern — sculpted, body-conscious, and designed to highlight her waist.

Sharing the details of choice, she revealed that the final look was shaped during a relaxed conversation in Paris between Sanchez Bezos, Daniel Roseberry of Schiaparelli, and stylist Law Roach. What began as a discussion around her personal style soon evolved into a design that felt both classic and contemporary.

For Sanchez Bezos, the Met itself holds a special meaning. Her first visit dates back to her early television days, when she wandered into the museum and was struck by the idea that someone, somewhere, chose to preserve these pieces of history. Over the years, she’s returned often — especially drawn to the Costume Institute galleries.

Therefore, for her, being the lead sponsor and honorary chair, came as a full circle moment.
