Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on director Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound (2025) and director Vikramaditya Motwane's Jubilee (2023), and CTRL (2024), has apologised after being accused of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse by several women last year. Following the allegations, his name was reportedly removed from multiple projects.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Shah admitted that he was deeply remorseful for his actions and the hurt he had caused in both professional and personal relationships. He said he had been in therapy for more than a year and had also achieved over a year of continuous sobriety as part of his rehabilitation.

Addressing the allegations, the cinematographer said, "I want to address the online allegations made against me last year. I am deeply remorseful for the mistakes I made and the hurt that I have caused, both in my professional interactions and in my past personal relationships."

"Looking back, I recognise that I allowed the increasing attention and growth of my career to cloud my judgment, leading to actions that were self-centred and wrong. I operated out of insecurity and a misguided yearning for validation, and I regret that I did not stop to consider the power I wielded as a person of privilege and influence." he added.

Shah revealed that he quickly came to understand that "arguing details did not change the reality" of his actions. Acknowledging that his fractured standing and relationships were the direct consequence of his missteps, he emphasised that he must own up to the "shame and pain" he inflicted upon his family, friends, and professional partners.

Shah highlighted that he has spent over a year in therapy addressing the root causes of his behavior. While confirming that he has also achieved "over a year of continuous sobriety" as part of his rehabilitation, he acknowledged that these steps do not clear him of his past actions. Expressing true sorrow and shame, he concluded that he is deeply "committed to learning from my failures" and working to rebuild trust through his future choices.

The allegations against Shah were first raised by filmmaker Abhinav Singh, based on testimonies from more than 20 women. The accusations included inappropriate and emotionally abusive behaviour, soliciting nudes, and sending unsolicited explicit messages. Following the allegations, Shah was dropped from the actor Rajkummar Rao-led Sourav Ganguly biopic, Dada. He had also shot Yash Raj Films's upcoming web series Akka, but the production house reportedly decided to remove his name from the final credits.

Shah's last theatrical release, Homebound featured actors Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in key roles.
