Actor Vijay Deverakonda has congratulated Suriya and the team of Karuppu after the fantasy action thriller opened to a strong response in Tamil and Telugu markets. The film, released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu, hit cinemas on May 15 after a brief delay and has been receiving positive reactions from audiences.
Sharing his excitement on X, Vijay Deverakonda praised the film’s growing reception and celebrated Suriya’s theatrical success. “So happy to see the overwhelming love for @Suriya_offl na's #Karuppu in Tamil and #Veerabhadrudu in Telugu. Hearing it is huuuuge,” he wrote. The actor added that seeing theatres “loud and noisy” again brought joy to cinema lovers and congratulated director RJ Balaji and Trisha Krishnan as well.

What did Vijay Deverakonda say about Karuppu?
In his post, Vijay Deverakonda said Suriya deserved the appreciation after consistently giving his all on screen every year. He also jokingly asked the actor to “take a nice holiday” following the film’s successful opening.
The response comes as Karuppu continues to draw attention across Tamil Nadu and Telugu-speaking regions. Fans have especially praised the film’s fantasy elements and socially driven narrative.
Why was Karuppu delayed before release?
Karuppu was initially scheduled to release on May 14 but faced a last-minute postponement due to financial issues. The makers later confirmed May 15 as the new release date.
On release day, Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji and music director Sai Abhyankkar watched the first-day-first-show with fans. They were also joined by Karthi, Suriya’s younger brother.
What is Karuppu about?
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu follows a group of underprivileged people fighting for justice through the legal system. When the very system meant to protect them becomes the source of suffering, Lord Karuppu Swamy takes human form to battle injustice.
Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film also stars Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy in key roles.
Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is busy with his upcoming projects, including Rowdy Janardhana, Ranabaali opposite Rashmika Mandanna, and another film with Hi Nanna director Shouryuv.
