Actor Raashii Khanna spoke about the impact of the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran on cinema. She reflected on how films may no longer be a priority for the audience affected by global tensions if the situation doesn’t de-escalate.
Raashii, in an interview with Gulte, expressed her views on the future of the film industry. She said, "I was talking to a friend recently about the future of films. A war has begun, and I don’t know how people are realising that we’re going to face inflation in the future."
The Ustaad Bhagat Singh actor said that for people affected by inflation as an outcome of the ongoing war, films will not be the "first priority." She also spoke about the impact of streaming platforms on theatrical releases.
"After that, because there’s a shortage of because I grew up in a middle-class family, I know films are like a luxury. When there’s no money, films will not be our first priority. Already, people are not going to the theatres to watch films. Unless it’s a big film. Small and medium films will suffer, OTT will become more powerful, that’s the future," Raashii added.
Raashii had been busy last year, as she featured in the Tamil film Aghathiyaa, and the 2025 Telugu release Telusu Kada. She was also seen in Farhan Akhtar's war-drama, 120 Bahadur.
The actor will also feature in director Harish Shankar’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh alongside actors Pawan Kalyan and Sreeleela. The film is set for a theatrical release on March 19 and will clash with Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge in the Telugu states.
