Anshula Kapoor let every wedding look tell a story. Her cocktail outfit brought it full circle

by Jigyasa Sahay · India TodayA bride's wedding ensemble is a reflection of her personality. Anshula Kapoor's cocktail look was that and so much more.
Her cocktail look was deeply rooted in tradition, something you wouldn't expect from a celebration often defined by sequins, gowns, and contemporary silhouettes. Anshula wore a reimagined Banarasi saree by Amit Aggarwal that honoured her traditions, keeping the cocktail theme in mind. The fusion was the best of both worlds.
All along, Anshula's wedding wardrobe has been a deeply personal story in itself. From honouring her and her husband's family roots, carrying her late mother's dupatta on her wedding day, to choosing a symbolic sindoori red for her reception, she wove her journey into every look and how.
Through his signature cording and sculptural pleating techniques, Amit Aggarwal deconstructed and transformed the classic Banarasi drape into a corseted couture ensemble, allowing heritage and innovation to coexist.
The designer reimagined the timeless weave with an off-shoulder corseted bodice which lent the look a contemporary edge, while the reimagined pallu became a dramatic couture element, preserving the essence of the saree without treating it as a conventional drape.
The ensemble was a reflection of Anshula's personal style philosophy, seamlessly balancing tradition with modernity.
She paired the look with an emerald, pearl and polki neckpiece and matching earrings, creating the perfect contrast against the rich red palette. A sleek pulled-back hairstyle, radiant skin and understated makeup completed the ensemble.
Well, the cocktail look felt like the perfect finale. From the aubergine Bandhani lehenga for the Gor Dhana ceremony and the golden lehenga paired with a Punjabi Phulkari dupatta for the Maata Ki Chowki, to the teal-blue Bandhani Banarasi bridal ensemble honouring Rohan Thakkar's Gujarati roots, every outfit celebrated a different chapter of India's textile heritage and her personal philosophy.
Meanwhile, Rohan kept it classic in a midnight navy blue embroidered bandhgala paired with matching trousers and black shoes. Elegant and understated, the look complemented Anshula's outfit without trying to match it too closely.
Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar got married on July 6 in an intimate ceremony at Taj Lands End in Mumbai.
