Rumours about trouble in the marriage of actor Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar gathered pace online after some social media users claimed the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram. Speculation intensified on Tuesday, May 12, with some fans also alleging that Suraj had deleted or archived their wedding photographs.

Neither Mouni nor Suraj has officially reacted to the rumours so far. As questions around their relationship continued online, many users also looked up Suraj’s professional background. Reportedly based in Dubai, Suraj is believed to be in his mid-thirties and works as an investment banker.

Who is Suraj Nambiar?

Reportedly, Suraj completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from RV College of Engineering. He later studied Investment Science and International Management at Stanford University.

He reportedly began his career with a four-month internship at Ashoka India before moving into engineering and business development roles at Invicus. At the time of his marriage to Mouni in 2022, Suraj was serving as the Director and Head of Capital Markets in the UAE.

Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar’s marriage

Mouni and Suraj got married in Goa on January 27, 2022. The couple held both Malayali and Bengali wedding ceremonies and later shared several glimpses from the celebrations on social media.

Over the years, the two were often seen together during holidays, parties and public appearances.

Mouni Roy’s professional journey

Roy started out in television before moving to films and web series. She appeared in shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasturi, Do Saheliyaan and Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. She later became widely known for playing Shivanya in Naagin, after which she shifted her focus to cinema.

She made her film debut with Akshay Kumar’s Gold in 2018. She later appeared in Romeo Akbar Walter (2019), Made In China (2019), Velle (2021), Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022), Blackout (2022) and The Bhootnii (2025).

Her upcoming film is Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which also stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. Directed by David Dhawan, the film is set to release in theatres on June 5.
