Actor Nani has reacted to the audience response to his latest film The Paradise, thanking fans for their love while admitting that he also enjoyed the “hilarious trolls” directed at the film. The actor said he had gone through the reactions and responses to the film and was grateful for the way audiences had “owned” it.

Sharing a note on social media, Nani also acknowledged the criticism from reviewers, saying he had learnt from the flaws they had pointed out.

“I have seen all your reactions and responses. I’ve received all your love and equally enjoyed your hilarious trolls. I’m heartwarmed by the way audience have owned the film, and also learnt from the flaws that critics and reviewers have pointed out,” he wrote.

Nani went on to thank audiences for their support, adding, “Thank you for everything is all I can say.”

The actor also spoke about the effort that went into making The Paradise. “We have made #TheParadise with a lot of blood and sweat to give you a unique experience, and it’s all yours to celebrate or judge,” he said.

Nani concluded his note by expressing gratitude for the excitement around the film and the affection he received from audiences.

“With the excitement you had for the film and the affection you showed on me, I am filled with gratitude (red heart emoji),” he wrote.

NANI ACKNOWLEDGES THE PARADISE CRITICISM

Nani’s comments come after The Paradise received a mixed response from critics and viewers. India Today’s review by Janani Kumar gave the film two stars, noting that its premise around an oppressed tribe living under Malik’s brutal rule initially showed promise.

“The Paradise starts with a promising premise about an oppressed tribe living under Malik’s brutal rule, where even pregnant women are not spared. The opening sequences make it clear that this is not the usual Nani film. Unfortunately, what begins as a potentially compelling story soon gets buried under excessive violence, gore and an increasingly muddled execution. The film appears to have plenty to say about oppression and power, but its storytelling rarely knows how to say it effectively," the review said.

Nani, meanwhile, did not single out any particular review or criticism in his post. Instead, he said he had taken note of the flaws highlighted by critics and reviewers, while also thanking audiences for embracing the film.

The Paradise marks another collaboration between Nani and director Srikanth Odela after Dasara. The film has generated considerable conversation around its intense subject, violent imagery and Nani’s performance.

For Nani, the audience response appears to have been a mix of appreciation, criticism and humour — all of which he said he had followed closely.
