Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith has been granted bail in a sexual harassment case. The bail was issued with specific conditions set by the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court to ensure a fair investigation.

The prosecution opposed the bail, expressing concerns that Ranjith might influence witnesses if released. They also alleged that he had not cooperated fully with the investigation. Ranjith, however, assured the court that he would not interfere with witnesses and clarified that his refusal to confess did not equate to non-cooperation.

Ranjith was arrested earlier following a complaint filed by a young actor alleging sexual harassment. The case has attracted significant attention due to his prominence in the film industry.

During the hearing, the court carefully considered arguments from both sides before deciding to grant bail under certain conditions. These conditions aim to prevent any undue influence on witnesses and uphold the integrity of the investigation.

The prosecution emphasised the importance of protecting the investigation from external pressures to ensure a thorough inquiry. They reiterated the need to safeguard those involved in the case.

Ranjith maintained his stance of non-interference and expressed his commitment to cooperating with the authorities. He denied any wrongdoing and conveyed confidence in the judicial process.

The court's decision to grant bail reflects a balance between protecting the rights of the accused and safeguarding the interests of justice. It highlights the judiciary's role in upholding due process amid sensitive allegations.

As the investigation proceeds, the court’s conditions will be closely monitored to ensure compliance. The case remains under active inquiry, with further developments expected in the coming days.

The case stems from an incident reportedly linked to a film currently under production. According to reports, a young actor alleged inappropriate behaviour by Ranjith during the shoot. She initially approached the film’s Internal Complaints Committee, which reviewed the complaint and later forwarded it to the Kerala Police. Officials have stated that the preliminary enquiry was conducted under strict confidentiality to protect the sensitive nature of the allegations.
