Stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser opened Golden Globes 2025 with a bold monologue, taking a dig at rapper Sean Diddy Combs. In a recent development, the lawyer representing the alleged victims of Diddy Combs has criticised Glaser for her controversial jokes at the Golden Globe Awards. The jokes, which were made during the event, have been described as 'horrible' and in poor taste, particularly in light of the serious allegations against Combs.
Speaking to TMZ, the lawyer expressed that Glaser should be ashamed of making light of such a sensitive issue. Ariel Mitchell, an attorney representing several clients accusing Diddy of sexual assault, expressed that she "hopes Nikki herself has never experienced sexual assault or been mocked for it." She further criticised the situation, stating that "trivialising such a serious matter is precisely why many sexual assault survivors hesitate to come forward and report their abuse."
As per the portal, another attorney of Diddy's accusers, Tyrone Blackburn, said he’d “expect a comedian of Nikki’s success to be skilled enough to find humour that doesn’t make light of drugging and rape.”
The comments have sparked a debate on social media, with many users echoing the lawyer's sentiments and calling for more sensitivity in comedy, especially when it involves serious allegations like rape. The comedian's representatives are yet to issue a statement.
On January 6, Nikki Glaser mentioned some of the biggest Hollywood controversies of 2024 during her monologue. She took a jibe at actor Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, and rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
She began her speech by praising Zendaya for her performance in the romantic sports drama, Challengers. Nikki said, “That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card. I know ... I’m upset, too. The after-party isn’t going to be as good.”
Making her debut as a host at the Golden Globes, she joked, “I know the Stanley Tucci freak-off does not have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.” This highlighted the lack of the usual over-the-top moments at the event.
Nikki Glaser was the talk of the evening, with nine outfit changes, excluding her red carpet look. Her wardrobe featured silver, black, pink, red, another pink, another red, another black, another silver, and gold outfits.
